Telemetry overlays for action camera videos
OVRLEY is a free desktop app for showing speed, route, elevation, heart rate, power, and other recorded activity data over GoPro, DJI, Insta360, and other action-camera footage.
After getting an Insta360 Ultra Go action cam in early 2026, I was looking for ways how to include the data from my rides in the videos I am a big data nerd - sometimes maybe too much - and none of the solutions I found felt right.
At that time, I was learning React/Javascript/HTML as a hobby for about 2 years, and I thought it would be a fun to make my first large open-source project. I wanted to make something that was free, easy to use and hopefully helpful to others who had the same problems I had. So I made OVRLEY.
I am not a professional software developer. I am a scientist by day, and I develop OVRLEY in the evenings. But I enjoy learning about different aspects of rendering, video processing, encoding, and data processing. OVRLEY supports several animated widgets and gauges and new styles are being continuously added. You can customize nearly anything about them to match your style - fonts, colors, transparency, borders, shadows and more.

OVRLEY works with many common devices and activity formats, including telemetry embedded directly inside the video, but also SRT, IGC, and VBO files. Support for more formats is being added all the time, so if you have a file that doesn't work, please let me know.
